Tong Bourdain: "Marge, you've got to check out this some of this Hang Ke Kuay Chap"
Marge: "Oooh! Triple spicy barbeque stingray stuffed with pig organs!"
I have no idea what is Hang He Kuay Chap. There is no such thing in Singapore!
It is a weird combination of 2 dishes. I dont think it is even possible to create this dish! Singapore's stringray dish is flat, a bit like fish. I dont think it is possible to stuff it with anything. It is also not sturdy enough to stand on a stick.
(Kuay Chap can also be spelt as Kway Chup, Kway Chap, Kuay Chap)
(Hang He can also be spelt as Heng He, Hung He)
AWESOME that Singapore is featured on Simpsons though!! :)
What the food really looks like
There is Kuay Chap in Singapore. It is actually a braised pig's innards with pork, braised eggs, beancurd served with flat rice noodles.
There is barbeque Stingray (Hang He) too. No, it is not served on a stick like on the video. It is, however, served on banana leaf (at certain stalls).
Recently, a author from Taiwan(Li Ao) sued the host (Xiao S) of a famous television program(Kang Xi Lai Le) for defamation/slander.
The statement was allegedly defamatory because Xiao S questioned if Li Ao was secretly in love with her sister's mother-in-law after Li Ao criticised the said mother-in-law in public. (See below for details of their squabble)
The author admitted on the TV show that he sued the host because he wanted to be on the show to propagate some of his ideas. If what he said was true, then IMO, this is a huge waste of resources and puts a unnecessary strain on the judiciary system. There are other ways to be on TV.
