Only Aesthetics QPX - the final treatments

I have to say that their customer service standards improved significantly in my last few treatments. The people were friendlier and I see that they finally pick up calls. They were also more thorough with their treatments. During my first few treatments, I felt that they were very halfhearted. They did not zap the lower part of the underarm and did not clean the gel off completely. But my last few treatments went well. Kinda depends on luck I guess.

I didnt get perfect results. There's still hair growth. But I only have to shave maybe once a month? And it's more at the lower part (probably caused they missed it in the first few sessions).

For the existing customers, please give feedback by ticking on the form after you sign on their chit. I think it helped to get rid of the rude ones.

Also, insist on them zapping the entire underarm! Don't be like me!

When my package ended, they tried to promote a lifetime qpx treatment for $98 I think. I didnt get it. I can get a $88 lifetime package with Musee Platinum Tokyo if there is Groupon promo. I have never tried Musee Platinum Tokyo but the location is more convenient as it is in Plaza Singapura.

Sparrow key chain ring

Got a Sparrow Key Ring from Gmarket! It was cheap. I got it for around $5 only! Saw it on sprees and other websites for more than $10. The highest I saw was $15. Amazon is selling for 11pounds.

So expensive on Amazon

Gmarket selling for $5 with shipping!

The keychain is just so adorable. I just had to get it!

Super fast shipping! Got it in my mail after 2 days.

Box was abit squashed but no big damage

The key chain also doubles as a whistle! Sounds like those that referees use.

How it looks on the wall.
It has 3M tape on the back so putting it up was a breeze.
Now, my mum knows when I am at home and when I am not. :D

The key ring is actually not too big. its 6cm long (from the beak to the end of the tail) and 3cm tall (from the belly to the  head)

If you want to get yours too! :)

Review: heads & shoulders scalp massage cream

heads & shoulders scalp massage cream
This is not easy to find in Singapore. I could not find it in Watsons, Guardian or CK. I eventually bought it from Giant at around $8/$9.

I use this when my scalp feels sensitive, oily or when the weather gets humid and hot.
My scalp tends to feel sensitive at certain time of the month (sometimes even flaky), which I attribute to a change in hormone levels.

It is white and has a creamy texture. Gives a tingling sensation when massaged into scalp. SHIOK!

When applied, it can feel slightly oily but it washes off easily and does not leave a residue.

Tiffyiffyiffy

This girl is AWESOME.
like legendary kind of awesome.

My favourite song: her take on Black Eyed Peas - Meet Me Halfway.

Very soulful,
makes me want to stop whatever I am doing and just listen.

Review: Only Aesthetics appointment

I called to make an appointment on 7 December 2011. My appointment was scheduled to be on 3 Jan 2012.
I received an SMS (screenshot below) from OA asking me to reschedule.

Rather disappointed at the short notice given. I was only informed on 31 December, 3 days before my confirmed appointment.

And she did not even bother to add my name in the SMS. I was merely referred to as customer. This is definitely not the way to build customer relations.

Review: Only Aesthetics - NON advertorial!

Realised that some of the bloggers writing about Only Aesthetics are being paid by OA.

http://www.nirachan.net/blog/?tag=onlyaesthetics - specifically stated that the post is an advertorial.
QiuQiu is featured on OA's blog - http://onlyaesthetics.wordpress.com/

Some other bloggers also have very similar pictures. Hmmmmm.

Review: OnlyAesthetics - One month after 2nd session

Growth is obviously slower than usual. I only have to shave once every few days.

However, I don't think they were thorough in zapping.. Hair growth is normal at the lower part of the pit. :(

I also managed to book my 3rd appointment very smoothly. I got through at my first call and managed to book my appointment on 3rd January.

Review: Sunshine Wholemeal Cream Roll

Sunshine Cream Roll, $0.85, NTUC Fairprice
No Trans fat. Healthier choice logo at the bottom

I got the Sunshine Wholemeal Cream Roll, Raspberry Flavour from NTUC. It looked pretty good. It had the Healthier Choice logo and had no Trans fat. It was not overly sweet. But the jam was surprisingly crunchy.

Initially, I thought it was the seeds from the jam. If it had been, I would have been impressed. Sadly, it was sugar! The sugar had not dissolved in the jam. It was as though the manufacturers just poured sugar out of sugar packets and forgot to stir!

Sugar for added crunch?

Super fail, I would not buy it again.

Review: Nestle Breakaway

This is super shiok, super addictive. It comes in a row of 5 (or 6, I cant remember. They were gone in a flash). I could only find this in the Market Place at Raffles City and not in normal supermarkets. They were on sale, maybe $2 or $3. Usual price would probably be double that.

The chocolate is like KitKat but the chocolate coating is more generous than Kitkat.
The center tastes very distinctly like digestive biscuits. I could taste the oat.

I would say that it tastes most similar to the dark chocolate digestive biscuits from Marks & Spencer.

On top of its awesome taste, it is only 99 calories
To put things in perspective, the UK four-finger Kit Kat contains 233 dietary calories and the two-finger Kit Kat contains 107 calories. Marks & Spencer Dark Chocolate Digestive Biscuits has 85 calories in a single biscuit.
Breakaway is also more filling (probably because its made up digestive biscuit and not wafer).
Fewer calories + more filling = slimmer waistline + satisfaction!

Would definitely buy again!

Review: Edmund Cafe at SMU

Muffin from Edmunds Cafe, SMU ($1.80)

The muffin was okay for its price ($1.80). The chocolate chips were pretty generous but the muffin itself was average. Apparently, it was featured on the Straits Times a few years back.
I prefer the the muffin at the store below School of Accountancy. It is better and cheaper ($1.50). And have better service.

The auntie at Edmund's Cafe gave a very snappy "what do you want?" when I was ready to order. It was 4.30pm on a Saturday.

She proceded to take out a muffin from the fridge and placed it in a bag directly.
Yes, she expected me to eat the muffin cold, straight from the fridge. From my previous experiences, I was always asked if I wanted the muffin warmed up.
So disappointed with the service.

Review: Toffee Nut Frappuccino

$7.90 for grande. (10% rebate with citibank)
I actually ordered the Dark Cherry Mocha but was given the Toffee Nut instead. Oh well.
I could taste the toffee. It was strong but not overwhelming.

People with a sweet tooth would love this. It was sweet but acceptable for me.

Review: Starbucks Mocha Frappuccino

$6.60 for a grande. (10% rebate if you use Citibank credit card)

I don't really like this. It does not have a strong chocolate taste. I could taste the bitterness of the presumably dark chocolate but not the richness of the chocolate.

Probably would not order this again.

I MISS THE MOCHA I HAD AT A SMALL CAFE IN SEOUL. that was god-like.

Oh, some nutritional information for you Starbucks coffee lovers:

Review: Royce Nama Chocolate

I LOVE CHOCOLATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My favourite kind of chocolate! :D

It literally melts in my mouth and the richness of the chocolate just explodes in the mouth like a volcano.

The chocolates are literally finger licking good. I couldnt bear to waste even the choc dustings.

I love the au lait flavour. Its slight sweetness carries the chocolate to sheer perfection, allowing me to fully appreciate the quality and smoothness of the chocolate.

I don't care that it is packaged with a ice pack to preserve its temperature while on the journey home.
I love it for its taste!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The chocolate has won me over completely.

Review: Groupon

I had to call Groupon because the voucher that I printed for Charme Hair Studio was drenched in the rain and the authorisation code was illegible.

I was very satisfied by Groupon's service staff! So polite and sweet. Maybe it was comparative but the dude seemed very nice..

I didnt get to speak to a customer service officer immediately. I had to press a few buttons to get to that stage.
I had to provide my email address, my real home address to get the authorisation code.

The entire process was very fast and simple!

Review: Samsung SyncMaster B1930

Got a new monitor for my laptop from Hardwarezone. It is clear and good enough for normal use.

I got it for $80, brand new in bag. Good deal!

Advice: Dont buy too big a monitor if your computer's graphic card is not good!!! Might get fried.

Review: Plus! BigDeal

Bigdeal is one of the many deals website which sprouted after the success of Groupon.

I am quite a cheapo so I have bought many deals from various websites.

But I must say that Bigdeal has the best customer service of those that I have tried.
I received a reminder on the 21st to remind me of my coupon which expires on 31st. Excellent customer service. Great way to distinguish itself from the pack!!

Foam party at Cafe Del Mar

Went to the foam party at Café del Mar last Sunday for Halloween. I think it was the last one that café del mar will ever hold.

It was my first and yet, their last.

It was super fun. I love the whale and the balls. :D

We brought our own vodka and drank before entering (yes, we are cheapos.). And we bought a bottle of their special concoction as well.

Dodgy photos were taken which will never see the light of day. An underwater camera comes in pretty handy in foam parties. <3

Check out a video of that day

Having fun in a foam party should be on everyone’s bucket list.

Review: OnlyAesthetics - One day after 2nd session

After the second session, I noticed that there were still black spots (roots of the hair) on the underarm.
One day after the second session, there is growth already. L

I really don’t know if this treatment is going to be effective.

Review: Only Aesthetics Session 2

First thing, Only Aesthetics moved to #05-03 of the same building (Singapore Shopping Centre). Turn right from the escalator.

New layout
The new outlet is still under renovation and there is no signboard yet. There is only a A4 paper with “Only Aesthetics”. I nearly missed the shop.

The new room seems smaller. There is barely enough room for the machine and bed. There is no hanger to hang my bag.

I felt that the person had some difficulties zapping the right arm because the bed was next to the wall.

Service

The lady did not explain what she was doing to me. All of a sudden, she started shaving me and then started zapping.

The lady shaved my underarms for me before the treatment. The shaver was those 10 for $1.95 from Guardian/Watson kind.
However, I do not think she used a new shaver. I noticed that she re-capped the shaver and left it on the table. Not very hygienic if they do reuse the shavers!

The lady tried to push for Brazillian and highlighted the promotion that they were having. But that was it. No hard sell.

They didn’t allow me to make an appointment for my next session because the receptionist said it was not available yet. I need to call in 2-3 weeks to make my next appointment which will be in January.

Review: Charme Hair Studio

Charme Hair Studio
14 Scotts Road, #03-87,
Far East Plaza, Singapore 228213

Tel: 6734 8801, 6734 8863

I got a voucher from Groupon for $38. It was supposed to be for scalp analysis + wash & blow + L’Oreal spa treatment + cut.

The place was pretty small with 3 staff and around 5 chairs. I had an appointment at 2pm and arrived slightly earlier despite the rain. I had to wait for around 10-15 mins before it was my turn.

The voucher got drenched in the rain and the security code was not very legible. I had to call Groupon to ask about the code. Whilst I was doing that, the stylist (didn’t get his name. he is the older male one) went “tsk tsk. Your hair is very dry”. YES, he went TSK TSK. OMG. My eyeball nearly rolled to the back of my head. I know my hair is dry but TSK TSK?! REALLY?!

He tried to promote a upgrade of the treatment but I refused.

A lady washed my hair and applied the treatment on my hair. She was nice. Her shampooing skill was not bad. The shampoo that they use is pretty shiok too. It has the minty, cooling feel.

After 15 mins, the guy stylist wanted to remove the machine but he wasn’t very careful and it hit my head. He did not realise initially but my facial expression probably gave it away.

Honestly, by this time, my patience for the guy was thinning.

The lady was not very good at blowdrying curly, frizzy hair and my hair frizzed up (yes, even after the treatment).

The cut lasted only for 15 mins because I only asked him to trim and give it shape. To me, 15 mins feels a bit short. Some say he is efficient, I feel he didn’t put heart into cutting.

He tried to give advice (rebonding, soft rebonding) but I didn’t really appreciate his tone. He had the i-know-better tone and that didn’t sit well with me. Personally, I do not really like stylists who promote rebonding as a solution to my hair. Yes, it is a solution. It is the easy way out. For my hair, it is only a very temporary solution (3 months before the roots start to curl and become SUPER ugly). I have tried rebonding for 5-6 years before I decided to stop. I know how my hair reacts and I do not want to try it again.

I didn’t get a scalp analysis. This might be because my face was probably very black by the time the stylist finished cutting my hair.

Verdict: I am never going there again. It is like a heartland hair salon which somehow ended up in Orchard.
