Review: DIY yogurt hair mask

I use the mask when my hair gets tangled and I think it really really really smoothens hair and reduces tangles! I use it once a week or more if I feel my hair is dry. <3
Ingredients:
- 3 tablespoons of plain natural yogurt (some recommend organic ones, but I just use the normal ones from supermarkets like Marigold)
- 1 tablespoon of honey
- 1 teaspoon of hair oil (olive or jojoba)
- (Some add egg but it really stinks! So I skip it.)
Method:
- Mix the ingredients in a small bowl
- Put a towel over shoulders
- Separate hair and apply the yogurt using fingers. (some say put it on the scalp but I added oil so I skip the scalp)
- Put a shower cap over it and let it rest for 30-60 mins
- (Use a hair dryer as heat speeds up and enhances the treatment process. Use it over the shower cap or simply direct it at hair.)
- Wash with shampoo and condition as usual. :)

Review: Paradise Dynasty

Paradise Dynasty is one tough place to have a meal. The Qs are always sooo long! I went twice but was too turned off by the Q. Third is the lucky number I guess. I went at 3pm on a Wednesday and there was no Q at all. So yea! :D
I tried the original and the crab xiao long bao. I preferred the original. The soup in the dumplings was sweet and the pork was fresh. Nicer than Din Tai Feng and Nan Xiang imo. The crab one had lesser soup but more meat; so it would appeal to those who like the meat in the dumplings. :)
The noodles came in a huge bowl. If you go in a pair (like me), my advice is to order one first to share. My company and I couldnt finish one bowl.
The drunken chicken was nicer than Nan Xiang but had more bones than Din Tai Feng. A bit unglam to eat if you're on a date. <3

Review: The 4 hour workweek

So what do I want, what excites me?
I want to run a social enterprise organising projects to raise awareness about certain issues.
With the convenience of the Internet, I think outsourcing some of your job would be a huge time saver. Imagine you are a HR associate who needs to check out the background of your candidates, you can simply outsource the Googling and Facebook-ing to your helper in India for a low fee. The time saved would be worth the money.
I agree with some other reviewers who said that the first 60 odd pages are already well worth the money.
Quotes from the book:
- Money gives empty bragging rights
- So what separates the New Rich characterized by options, from the Deferrers, whose who save it all for the end only to find that life has passed them by?
- The NR want others to work for them (vs to work for yourself). They want to prevent work for work's sake, and to do the minimum necessary for maximum effect (vs to work when you want to).
- Retirement is not the goal!
- Doing less meaningless work, so that you can focus on things of greater personal importance, is NOT laziness. Society should stop rewarding personal sacrifice instead of personal productivity.
- Let's define "laziness" anew—to endure a non-ideal existence to let circumstance or others decide life for you, or to amass a fortune while passing through life like a spectator from an office window. Don't save retirement for the end!
- The size of your bank account doesn't change this, nor does the number of hours you log in handling unimportant e-mail or minutiae.
- Focus on being productive instead of busy.
- If the potential damage is moderate or in any way reversible, dont give people the change to say no. Most people are fast to stop but hesitant to get in the way if you're already moving.
- Excitement is the more practical synonym for happiness, and it is precisely what you should strive to chase
- what would excite me?
- No more passing days as the living dead, no more dinners where his colleagues compared cars, riding on the sugar high of a new BMW purchase until someone bought a more expensive Mercedes.
- There's no difference between a pessimist who says, "Oh, it's hopeless, so don't bother doing anything," and an optimist who says, "Don't bother doing anything, it's going to turn out fine anyway." Either way, nothing happens. The level of competition is fiercest for "realistic" goals, paradoxically making them the most time-and energy-consuming
- Ninety-nine percent of people in the world are convinced they are incapable of achieving great things, so they aim for the mediocre.
- I need to Liberate myself from the office environment before they can work ten hours a week to escape from the expectation of long hours.
What you can do to become the NR.
- Doing something unimportant well does not make it important. Requiring a lot of time does not make a task important.
- Slow down and remember this: Most things make no difference. Being busy is a form of laziness—lazy thinking and indiscriminate action.
- Focus on the important few and ignore the rest. Lack of time is actually lack of priorities!
More customers is not automatically more income. More customers is not the goal and often translates into 90% more housekeeping and a paltry 1-3% increase in income - Identify the few critical tasks that contribute most to income and schedule them with very short and clear deadlines (80/20 + Parkinson's Law).
- Allocate the bare minimum so time is not wasted on work which only gives 20% of result.
- Even if you know what's critical, without deadlines that create focus, the minor tasks forced upon you (or invented, in the case of the entrepreneur) will swell to consume time until another bit of minutiae jumps in to replace it, leaving you at the end of the day with nothing accomplished.
- Define a short to-do list and a not-to-do list
- "If this is the only thing I accomplish today, will I be satisfied with my day?"
- Are you inventing things to do to avoid the important?
If you prioritize properly, there is no need to multitask - Stop asking for opinions and start proposing solutions
- I suggest that... What do you think? / Let's try... and then try something else if that doesnt work.
- My contacts now know that I don't respond to emergencies, so the emergencies somehow don't exist or don't come to me. Problems, as a rule, solve themselves or disappear if you remove yourself as an information bottleneck and empower others.
- Instead, complete your most important task before 11:00 A.M. to avoid using lunch or reading e-mail as a postponement excuse.
- Structure emails with "If... Then..."
- Meetings should come with a agenda
- That sounds doable. So I can best prepare, can you please send me an e-mail with an agenda? That is, the topics and questions we'll need to address? That would be great. Thanks in advance.
- Force invaders to give a 30s summary by not letting them"get back to me". Insist on "What can i do for you". If it is still not clear, get them to send a email to "remind me"
- Develop a number of rules to work autonomously with less approval seeking and talk it over with Boss.
- "hate to interrupt you so much and pull you away from more important things that I know are on your plate.. Would that be reasonable? "
- Automate your life with a PA from Brickwork
- if you spend your time, worth $20-25
- Per hour, doing something that someone else will do for $10 per hour, it's simply a poor use of resources.
- When giving constructive advice, avoid calling a problem a problem. call it a thing.

I have been there twice and have tried the chicken, macaroni and cheese, german potato salad, roasted potato, molten lava cake, fries and waffles.
The chicken was nice! Tender and juicy, much like Kenny Rogers. As for the sauces, I liked the BBQ (typical, I know..) and the sesame one. The rest were a bit sour or funky for my liking.
I tried the Macaroni and cheese twice and i must say that the standard fluctuates. The 2nd time I went, it was bland and not as rich as the first.. Depends on luck, I guess..
The fries came with their signature sauce, nothing to rave about.
Waffles were alright..
BUT THEIR MOLTEN CAKE WAS DAMN AWESOME. SERIOUS. it is a bit pricey ($10), but it is worth it! You can just tell that the chocolate they use is of quality. The molten cake and ice cream combination is to die for!
I believe they have discounts for SMU students, just ask the counter! :)

Review: Brainwavz M2 IEM Earphones - MP4 Nation

MP4 Nation
My main complaint is the delivery time by mp4 nation!!! On the order form, it was clearly stated that delivery only takes 4-14 days. I ordered mine on 18 Apr 2011, item was supposedly shipped on 26 Apr 2011 BUT i only received it on 30 May 2011!
The lack of tracking by Hk post didn't help either. I could not confirm if mp4 nation did ship my order. Mp4 nation should seriously look into their shipping policy!! They should really change the 4-14 days to a more realistic time. Highly doubt that I would get anything from them anymore!
Prices are also not competitive. I bought the M2 for USD59.50, I just realised that I could have gotten it for SG$65 minus the wait! There was also a promotion on a singapore site; M2 only cost SG$56.50!!! ROAR!
- Some spelling and grammar errors in the instructions manual affect the professionalism of the earphones.
- The case is also not very appealing, it reminds me of the one from Sonicgear.
- Mine did not come with ear gliders although the package stated that the gliders are included.
- For me, earphones need to handle acoustics well. Some earphones just can't handle simple and clean music.
The m2 does good in acoustics. It is detailed enough for the casual listener.
The bass on dance/club music is better than usual.
Sound isolation is good. I couldn't hear construction work going on near my house at half the volume level on a iPhone. - Wires are unique; it seems to be braided underneath. It really seemed to prevent tangling. This is a big plus for me cause I am not too gentle with my earphones and that has caused me a few earphones already.
Compared with Soundmagic PL30, the wires on M2 seemed sturdier and more durable. - 3 silicon and 1 foam tips were included in my package. Currently using the foam tips, simply because it looks cooler and it is featured on the box.
Read other reviews and realised that some reviewers received more tips. Do check before purchase if that's a factor for you.
Check out Amazon for more reviews:
Amazon is also selling at the same price as MP4 Nation. Those who are interested in the M2s should try Amazon to possibly reduce the shipping time. :)

Recently, a author from Taiwan(Li Ao) sued the host (Xiao S) of a famous television program(Kang Xi Lai Le) for defamation/slander.
The statement was allegedly defamatory because Xiao S questioned if Li Ao was secretly in love with her sister's mother-in-law after Li Ao criticised the said mother-in-law in public. (See below for details of their squabble)
The author admitted on the TV show that he sued the host because he wanted to be on the show to propagate some of his ideas. If what he said was true, then IMO, this is a huge waste of resources and puts a unnecessary strain on the judiciary system. There are other ways to be on TV.
(http://news.xinhuanet.com/society/2011-05/07/c_121389606.htm)
